Easter Eve / Holy Saturday
Easter Eve / Holy Saturday can be the last day of Lent
At the moment can be in many instances incorrectly called Easter Saturday (and was once with the aid of me until I learnt better!). Easter Saturday is the Saturday following Easter Sunday, not the day between good Friday and Easter Sunday!
There is not any liturgy on Holy Saturday. We spend the day reflecting upon the powerful reality of Jesus’ loss of life. Moreover to the daily Reflection and the making ready for the Easter Vigil Liturgy pages, we present a page with each and every of the readings for the Easter Vigil and a web page with every of the prayers which are stated after each studying. These pages are inter-linked, so that is it possible to move backward and forward, conveniently, just following the links.
What’s important is that we preserve at the present time holy, and let our “experience” of the mystery of death form our reflection, and our longing to rejoice the Easter reward of Jesus alive, for us and with us.
If we are capable to celebrate the Easter Vigil, we will renew our Baptismal promises in a method the completes our Lenten trip to the font. We present a renewal of our Baptismal guarantees right here, which we would do, in these or equivalent words, which any of us would make as we preserve a vigil of readings and prayer Saturday night time, or early Easter Sunday Morning.
“On Holy Saturday, the Church waits on the Lord’s tomb in prayer and fasting, meditating on his ardour and death and on his Descent into Hell, and watching for his Resurrection.
The Church abstains from the Sacrifice of the Mass with the sacred desk left naked, until after the solemn Vigil, that’s, the anticipation by way of night of the Resurrection, when the time comes for paschal joys, the abundance of which overflows to occupy 50 days.
